As you all are aware, an historic Winter weather storm is moving in early this week. This is just a reminder to finalize your preparations. Ensure your pipes are properly wrapped, plants are covered and that you have adequate food and supplies in the event of a worse case scenario. WWLTV New Orleans is forecasting A historic storm. They have stated that Precip could freeze solid Tuesday night prolonging the danger. Some experts have urged that we be prepared to stay home for up to 3 days; again that is worse case scenario. We have also listed a guide to running water & dripping your faucets over the next few days:
RUN IT Sunday night, start after midnight.
TURN OFF at sunrise Monday & leave off all day.
RUN IT Monday night through midday Wednesday.
TURN OFF for Wednesday afternoon.
RUN IT after sunset Wednesday.
TURN OFF Thursday morning when the temp gets above 32°.
Below is another advisory from the National Weather Service - New Orleans issued on Sunday night:
“It’s going to snow - A LOT. The snowstorm will develop in the early morning hours Tuesday and continue for most of the day.
This is something we’ve not experienced in our lifetime, it will rival the epic Gulf Coast Snowstorm of 1895. Numbers can be higher or lower for certain locations.
Please understand the urgency that the cold will be dangerous, travel will be impossible and tree branches will snap from the weight of the snow. Snow can be so fun but be safe! Stay home, watch those trees around your house, keep the pets warm and keep your pipes protected.
The storm’s impacts will last multiple days! We may have to shelter-in-place for at least 48 hours Tuesday-Thursday.”
None of this is to create fear or panic but as your church WARN you of the possibilities so that we are prepared.
