A Transformed Walk.
A Transformed Walk.

Psalm 1:1-3 (ESV) “Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

but his delight is in the law of the Lord,

and on his law he meditates day and night.

He is like a tree planted by streams of water

that yields its fruit in its season,

and its leaf does not wither.

In all that he does, he prospers.”

Psalm 1 lays out two paths: the way of the righteous and the way of the wicked. Then it warns that there are moments where the two paths intersect & as the believer, we have to choose where we will walk and what will lead us through influence. Right from the beginning, we’re introduced to the blessed life—not as one of wealth or worldly success, but one rooted in spiritual alignment with God.

The psalmist tells us what the blessed person does not do—he avoids the influence, lifestyle, and attitudes of the ungodly. The progression from walking, to standing, to sitting reveals a gradual descent into deeper involvement with sin. First, we entertain sinful advice, then we participate in sinful practices, and finally, we become settled in sinful identities. Who and what you entertain is more crucial and vital than you may think.

However, this path of blessing is not just about avoiding the wrong—it’s about pursuing the right. The blessed person delights in God’s law and meditates on it day and night. This is not dry religious duty, but a deep love for God’s Word and a desire to live it out in a way that influences the world around us and not vice versa. To meditate is to ponder, to chew on Scripture, letting it reshape our thinking and guide our living.

The result? Stability, fruitfulness, and endurance. The righteous person is like a tree beside a flowing stream—always nourished, bearing fruit at the right time, and unfazed by drought. This is a contrast to the way of the wicked. They are spiritually malnourished, bear no good spiritual fruit and are living in drought without hope or a definitive future because their lives are distant from God and His Way.

PRAYER FOR TODAY

Prayer: Lord, I want to walk the path of the righteous. Help me to delight in Your Word and meditate on it day and night. Uproot me from any place where I have been sitting in the company of sin, and plant me beside Your life-giving streams. May my life bear fruit that honors You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

May we all experience acceleration in our lives by being transformed in our walk! So far we have covered having a transformed mind, a transformed life through crucified flesh, and transformed faith through waiting on God and trusting His process. Come back tomorrow and discover how God transforms our hearts.
